As I await parts of the internet to reconnect following our internal power and network failing I decided that I needed to update here a little. I’m not sure when the power went off as I was asleep at the time, but it appears that the main switch failed and stopped all our internal power, the barn (where the hens/rats/geese/etc) live was unaffected. So we knew that the wider power wasn’t off… Though when I say we, I mean people other than myself, I though that we were having a power cut when I woke up at 5am and reported it as such. We weren’t and I am an idiot. Anyway an electrician came out about 11am, told us it was the main switch, and then replaced it at ~2pm. So the power was off for ~12hrs I’d guess.
Then when it came back on our internet was off, I’m pretty good with computers, having sold, built, repaired, etc in my career. However I’m not great at troubleshooting network issues so we called up our ISP, and asked them what to do. So that’s fixed now too… but BBC loaded fine, as did here, but YouTube wasn’t loading at all… so I don’t know what the issue was by the time I had typed the above it was up again and playback is fine. 🙂
Otherwise I have been doing a lot of writing, I’m about 100k words in across about six stories, four of which are Whateley fanfics (called WhatIFs by the Whateley peeps for Whateley Independent Fiction), one is a new idea I had not so long ago, came from a dream, not sure if it can work, but I was enjoying playing with it, and something I’ve been working on for a number or years in bursts of creativity. Aside from my writing I haven’t done very much other than a lot of reading. I did post what stories I was working on a few posts ago, and I just rewrote all that before recalling I’d already done so.
Basically written a load of stuff.
Bike fund is currently not growing – very annoying but I’m not working, trade isn’t great at my job so as a part timer I get let go first. Hopefully that’ll pick up as the year progresses. But it’s not looking good to have a new eMTB before next year, I’ve just had to buy a new Keyboard to replace my aging mechanical, that wasn’t cheap for a basically like for like replacement. I doubt my current bike will last another year without getting some new components so I end up spending my bike fund on things that go on my old bike that I won’t use once I get a new bike. Not happy, but what can I do?
