One: Last year I had a subcutaneous cyst on the back of my neck go septic, this year I have one on the side of my neck, the treatment of which appears to be the same so on Monday I will go into hospital to have a chunk of my still living – but pretty disgusting – flesh removed, and then have the wound packed with seaweed everyday for the next few weeks. Last year as I was reliant on Public Transport I spent the better part of £200 on travel, none of which I managed to get back. Luckily I had savings to use for that so I managed. I don’t have that safety net this year so I will have to manage on my bike.
The actual hospital visit will be more annoying as I must get a taxi down for 7am – which I’d imagine will eat into my funds somewhat dramatically, must remember to take my bank card with me so I can get cash out (or find a way to pay). My first early morning taxi ride I paid by card, last year the guy insisted in cash. This year I will be better prepared.
Two: After my previous post about my bike I wrote a fairly strongly critical complaint letter to Tredz, I eventually got a reply with an apology and a £100 voucher to spend. So while technically I am still out of pocket from the process hopefully they will adjust their policies a little so that people in the same situation in the future won’t be as inconvenienced. That said I doubt I will buy another bike from them. I do have my eye on a Pinion MGU equipped MTB as my next bike but that will be a while as they are far from cheap.
Three: I can’t count.
Four: With the return of some normality due to getting my next benefit payment and the ability to buy food again my depression as tapered off a little. I have also done a really long ~40mi ride which left me a little exhausted, but I plan on detailing that in a later post.
