Backsliding…

Been doing a lot of backsliding recently, depression is like that, you think it’s beaten… you think you can finally get on with life and then the gravity goes way up and staying in bed is needed rather than just desired.

So I haven’t been quite as clean as I think I ought, nor have I done enough exercise. Plan was by this time I’d be walking more than a mile every day, nor have I managed to sort of my bike for an alternative exercise route.

And I have done even less writing than normal. Planned plenty, came up with even more characters/situations but none of it written. Played a lot of City of Heroes, read quite a bit… I’m not just lying in bed everyday. I do do things, just not want I planned on doing.

I’m back at the Cheese shop, Sundays for an hour doing Ice Packs, and the Saturday before the first Wednesday of the month and the Saturday after, so I’m earning a little and making sure that if this pandemic is ever over and I have the chance of applying to get a more sensible job I have something on my CV other than “Lay in bed for 15 years, wasn’t woken by handsome prince(ss).” And it’s all legit, so I’m not in fear of losing my benefit… though I had to fill in Fitness to Work form (ESA50) in the middle of my latest bout of depression (latest low spot).

They don’t ask if you’re actually working though, I’m sure it’s in my records (I filled in forms and spoke to my then advisor at the jobcentre) and I’m permitted to work up to 16 hours a week at the minimum wage… maximum I have ever worked is about 16 and that was at Christmas last year… nice January wage slip (but still under whatever it is I’m not supposed to earn over…

  • Must do more writing.
  • Must get more exercise.
  • Must stop eating so many Hot Cross buns ( I love the ones from booths but they don’t love me).
  • Must get back to the doctor and find out why my foot hurts so much (see below).
  • Must update my blog more often.
  • Must get some real readers… 😉

Foot:

Been having an issue with my foot for years, but when I wasn’t caring about exercising it didn’t matter, but now I’m walking more I’m in considerable pain. Spoken to a couple of doctors on the phone and they don’t think it’s Plantar Fasciitis, because the exercises I have been given to make it better make it worse and it doesn’t get better from being exercised… Nor do they think it’s Achilles Tendonitis as the pain is in the wrong part of the foot… but they don’t know what is causing it (other than being overweight).

But it makes walking even short distances painful, so far I’ve been grinning and bearing it, but my progress on getting fit/losing weight isn’t progressing much. Going to try to get me/my bike working again, but that has it’s own issues (well my hip has issues, so I might need a new saddle and I’m trying to save my pennies…).

Watch this space as they say I guess. Hopefully I can update a bit more frequently. 🙂
